The son of North Americans, Robert Albert was born in Caracas, Venezuela, where he lived until the age of 11. After graduating from Harvard in 1970, he returned to his beloved home to seek a simpler life in nature. Robert has been a tropical homesteader since 1975, living off the road and planting fruit trees as a campesino. In 1979 he moved from Fundo Segundo (where Malarian Frutarian takes place) to a farm in northeastern Venezuela. There he manages rural projects for the non-profit Turimiquire Foundation.
