Mario Bick's hip What's On, What's Coming Off? offers new ways of thinking about the relationship between fashion, sexuality, and Darwinian selection. Though critically acclaimed when it was first presented at the annual meetings of the American Anthropological Association in 1968, the text remained unpublished. A new preface by the author describes the context for its composition and its continuing relevance.

Robert Albert's Malarian Frutarian represents another effort to make available a long-unpublished gem. In this crisply written memoir, a practicing frutarian tells the true story of trying to overcome malaria without medication, and thus to define the limits of his own idealism. Set in tropical Venezuela, where the author has lived since the early 1970s.
