It was a very good year! The Crumpled Press published a beautiful edition of John Byron Kuhner's first work, Staten Island: Or, Life in the Boroughs, and continued production of four other titles at monthly binding parties in Brooklyn.
On December 4 The Crumpled Press celebrated its fifth anniversary at Cabinet in Brooklyn. Some fifty people joined the bookbinding tutorial and made their own journals. D. Graham Burnett chaired a rousing panel with John Byron Kuhner, Regina Granne, and Anthony Grafton. The Matt Panayides Group closed the evening with original jazz compositions. Click for
In November Kuhner read from his book to a packed room at the Staten Island Museum.
In October Regina Granne, author of Increments: Drawings, 1970-1995, and Derek McGee participated in the forum Artist as Witness: Words on War at A.I.R. Gallery in Brooklyn, New York.
Granne displayed work at Genovese Sullivan in Andover, Massachusetts in April and May.
