13 Poems
By Jordan Kenneth McIntyre
Poetry
In this new collection, Jordan Kenneth McIntyre explores intimacy, community, and identity in the space of the city. Fearless about returning to old themes, his poems pay careful attention to form and echo the cadence of song. Printed in a smart, pocket-size edition: carry it anywhere, read it bit by bit or straight through, and share in its generosity of spirit.
From the text:
You said I sound bleak.
And I said you sound..., well,
not in so many words.
I just kept on walking
Reader comments:
I found myself quite enamored of poem #13 itself, "For My Mother," which is a lovely poem, delicate and touching, if also a little distant in ways I find pleasing. "I know not where / To touch with delicacy / Against the pen of experience" is an inspired line.
- Graham Burnett, Associate Professor of History, Princeton University, Princeton, NJ
Jordan McIntyre's book moves like a bicycle ride through the close edges of
Brooklyn. Smiling all the while, at life's bittersweet moments. Calm, reassuring and real.
